I’ve been following this story for over a year now.
Merideth Kercher (Brit) was discovered stabbed to death in her bedroom inside of the flat she shared with two Italian chicks, and another foreign student whom hails from my native Pacific Northwest. Amanda Knox.
The timeline of events for all parties involved in the investigation is hazy at best. They know M was with friends earlier in the evening, the night she was murdered. Amanda Knox, currently on trial in Italy for Merideth’s murder (along with her Italian beaux, Raffaele Sollecito), claimed she’d been at R’s apartment the night of the 1st, only to discover M missing upon her return to the house the next morning. Amanda discovered signs of what she thought looked like a break in, and drops of blood. M’s door was locked from the inside. Amanda began calling all of her housemates, and was unable to reach Merideth.
A lot of false information has been spread since this story broke. For instance, I assumed Amanda and her man called up the po-po themselves after mutually suspecting a break in. Turns out, the Policia came on their own after finding M’s mobile elsewhere.
The Italian press almost immediately fleshed out a very salacious, cinematic scenario. That Merideth had been murdered after refusing to take part in group BDSM with Amanda, the boyfriend Raffaele, and a soon to be discovered third party.
Amanda initially pinned it on some African club owner for whom she worked, and subsequently ended up having a rock solid alibi; he’d spent the entire night at his bar slinging drinks to the students that keep his pockets fat as fuck. Soon after this was brought to light, Rudy Hermann Guede was arrested in Germany, and confessed to the killing.
The remainder of the details are spastic and confusing, but here goes…
- in the same interrogation in which Amanda fingered Patrick Lamumba (the bar owner) she told police she actually was at the house, and heard Merideth scream as Patrick stabbed her to death.
- Amanda retracted her statement and claimed she’d been beaten into confessing during the 14 hours she was held.
- Rudy Hermann Guede initially claimed though he had sex with Merideth the night she was murdered, it was consensual, and someone else actually murdered her while he was taking a leak. If that shit isn’t side eye worthy i don’t know what is.
- after confessing, Rudy said Amanda didn’t have anything to do with the murder… then he said she was the one that twisted the knife.
I really wish Meredeth had her voice. All I could think about amidst my frantic speculation regarding Foxy Noxy’s innocence or her boyfriend’s creepiness, or Guede’s dirtiness, is, what Merideth would think in all of this? How would it feel to be the silenced victim, having a million different people claim to know what happened to you. Would she laugh at their assuredness? Would she wince at the graphic speculation regarding the gory details of her demise?
I haven’t been scouring the web for the latest updates these days. The only witness I’d be interested in hearing from is dead.
